Chronic Illness Book Club
Every Third Tuesday @ 7 PM on Zoom
October through February
Living with chronic illness takes its toll, both physically and spiritually. Join retired therapist, and seasoned facilitator, Barb W., in a read through of Tend to Your Spirit: Mindful Living with Chronic Illness by Julianne Lepp and Florence Caplow. With candor and vulnerability, this book offers “insights and practices that can benefit anyone facing the emotional impact of a new or ongoing condition,” helping readers practice self-compassion and self-care. Structured metaphorically around the four seasons, each chapter is devoted to a particular aspect of life with chronic illness, such as grief, hope, perseverance, anger, comfort, and finding connection.
You may order a copy of this book through the inSpirit Bookstore, or claim one of five free copies offered by MVUUF by emailing Director of Congregational Life, Meredith. Then, join Barb on zoom at 7 PM on October 20th, for the first of 5 discussions, for introductions and to to get an overview of what to expect over the coming months.
This book club will continue to meet the third Tuesday of the month, through February, and cover a different section of the book each time. See below for a full list of dates / sections, and zoom information. Questions? Email Barb W.
