“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” ~Mahatma Gandhi
Not only is volunteering necessary in order to keep our fellowship vibrant and alive, we can learn quite a lot about ourselves when we reach out to help others. Whether it’s serving as a committee member, organizing an event, or simply pointing a visitor in the right direction on a Sunday morning, every act we commit in love and service is important. It’s for that reason we consider volunteering – or what we might call Shared Ministry – a vital spiritual practice!
Some, but not all, areas where you can volunteer are:
- Pastoral Care – meal trains, our small food pantry, cards, practical care, and the ministry of accompanying.
- Right Relations – supporting congregants in dealing with conflict with one another with directness, openness, and kindness
- Media/Digital Marketing – Facebook, Instagram, TikTok
- Committee or Team Work – Production Team, Worship Team, Music Committee, Membership Committee, Hospitality Team
- Activities Host of Helper – Movie Nights, Food & Fellowship set-up, Group Leader (e.g. Fiber Arts Group)
- Governance – Board, Finance, Nominating, Task-Forces
