Somaya has lived in the Dayton area all her life, and started attending MVUUF when she was 5 years old. She and her partner Kenny have two wonderful children, Milena (“Millie” for short, age 5) and Sagan (like Carl Sagan age 3). They also have two beautiful black cats that endure a lot of love from the kids.
Somaya and her kids love to do arts and crafts together. Millie is amazing at drawing and keeps her mom company while she paints with watercolors. They also enjoy doing puzzles together.
Somaya has spent a lot of time involved in UU leadership roles and leadership development as a youth. In high school she attended two leadership schools and has led many training conferences on Spiritual Development and Chaplaincy. She also served as the Advisor of Spiritual Support for two years on the District Youth Steering Committee. Somaya values being a lifelong UU and expresses that children and youth programming holds a special place in her heart.
