Being Mortal, Session 2
Multi-platform, presented by the Pastoral Care Team, with light refreshments
Last year, we held our first Being Mortal Workshop at the Fellowship. It was based upon Dr. Atul Gawande’s Being Mortal, a FRONTLINE public television documentary that explores the hopes of patients and families facing terminal illness and their relationships with the doctors who care for them. We are presenting a follow-up program to delve into what palliative care and hospice options can look like. Longtime MVUUF member Dr. Don Nguyen has invited his colleague, Dr. Rab Razzak, to speak with us via Zoom. Dr. Razzak is a palliative medicine and internal medicine physician and former leader at Doctors for America. He will discuss real world choices and challenges with us. Following Dr. Razzak’s presentation, other local experts will share their thoughts. While the program will conclude at 3:30PM, all are invited to stay another 15 minutes for discussion. You need not have attended the first session in order to participate in this second session. If you are not able to attend onsite, you can join us on Zoom using the link below: Meeting ID: 953 8114 7453 Passcode: 869000 We encourage you to watch the Being Mortal video and/or read his bestselling book Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End, before attending this session to take advantage of Dr. Gawande’s efforts to help us talk about dying, both within our families and with our healthcare professionals: Video: |
