Social Groups at MVUUF
At the Fellowship, we gather together in a variety of discussion groups. All of our activities and groups are open to both members and friends. Our main social groups are described below.
Community Discussion Group
Meeting weekly before the Sunday worship service, the Community Discussion Group tackles widely varying subjects: religion, philosophy, science, current events, popular culture, and more. Topics and moderators change weekly. This group meets Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the Founders Room.
Our Woman’s group meets every Sunday morning to explore topics and curriculum that cultivate powerful spiritual connections between the women in the group. Typically, the group organizes an annual retreat for the women of the congregation. This group meets Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in one of the religious education classrooms.
The Daytime Book Group (third Wednesday @ 10:30 in the Founders Room) meets monthly. The Environmental Book Group meets every two months in the Founders Room.
Smart Choices is a daytime themed lunch group, for individuals who identify as women, that encourages each of its members in their individual pursuits. This group celebrates a monthly birthday lunch at a local restaurant, enjoys field trips, and other various activities.
MVUUF Men exists as a vehicle for organizing the next “Men Who Cook” fundraiser and other “men’s” activities within the Miami Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. As we considered its charter we realized it could be so much more, and we decided to leave the door open for other future uses.
Of course, our name begs the question, “So who’s an MVUUF man?” We figure it’s any MVUUF member or friend who considers himself man enough to put up with the rest of us.
